Magic-E Rule ~ unspoken 'e'

Played 392 times.

Description:
When the letter E sits at the end of a word (VCe),it is usually silent. It tells the preceding vowel to say its name (long vowel sound). The magic e vowels are as follows: a_e, i_e, o_e and u_e.

Hindi and punjabi translation is provided.

The magic 'e' rule, sometimes known as the unspoken 'e' or the silent 'e', is where the 'e' at the end of a word is silent but changes the way that the word is spoken or pronounced. This happens when 'e' is the second letter in a split digraph with another vowel sound, such as in the word 'kite'.
